Google promised in December of last year that the ‌Apple TV‌ app would expand to more devices in the Android TV OS ecosystem in the near future. The ‌Apple TV‌ app, which offers viewers access to Apple TV+ content and more, is now available for download through the Google Play Store on Android TV OS devices.

Google also confirmed the availability of the app in the Android TV OS ecosystem to 9to5Google.

Yesterday, the ‌Apple TV‌ app expanded to Nvidia Shield Streaming devices and in November was made avaiable on Xbox gaming consoles.

I would be curious to know how many subscribers they have who do not own any Apple devices.

I can see now why apple aren’t making their own TVs , they don’t need to

the ultimate Trojan horse , well played apple , well played indeed
I have no idea what this means. Why is this a Trojan horse? It’s just a streaming app. It’s not like it exposes Android users to the Apple hardware ecosystem. If Apple made the ATV hardware a success they might have been in a much stronger position today. Now, they only have 2% of the “smart tv“ market and no real presence in the living room. Or smart home for that matter.

Fair comment there, but they have to make AppleTV+ a more compelling offer to get people to actually subscribe rather than (currently) sitting on a free subscription because they have purchased an Apple device recently.
Apple “have to”. Apple “should do” this or that. This will never stop.

Apple is doing exactly that: producing high quality content at the pace needed for high quality content. It takes time to build a critical mass of shows, but Apple is THE master at the slow and steady game that ultimately wins the race.
